Taking Apart the $819 billion Stimulus Package

Big Stimulus GraphicMike Lawrence, through Sue Mohr in Montana, made me aware of a great and detailed graphic published on 1 March 2009 in the Washington Post. The graphic displays on one page entire flow of spending evident in the House of Representatives-approved economic stimulus package. As indicated by the Post:

The centerpiece of President Obama’s domestic agenda is an $819 billion economic stimulus plan. The Senate will consider the measure this week, with an eye toward the amount of tax cuts and spending. Republicans and Democrats spar over what to consider a tax cut. An analysis by the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office tallies the tax-cut portion to be significantly less than the one-third Democrats claim it to be.

Just figuring out where the money will flow at the national level creates a challenge for understanding how the money will flow into Pennsylvania. This graphic is a good aid to figuring out spending on the economic stimulus nationally.
